El Paso Automobile Dealers Break Record with $41,000 in Scholarships to Local Students
Date of Announcement: Tuesday, June 9, 2026
Time & Place of Announcement: 12:45 p.m. at The Plaza Hotel (Trost Ballroom), 106 W. Mills Ave.
The El Paso New Car Dealers Association (EPNCDA) and its board members are pleased to announce they are giving away a record-breaking $41,000 for the 2026-2027 academic year. The recipients will be recognized at 12:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9 at the EPNCDA Annual Luncheon to be held in the Trost Ballroom of the Plaza Hotel in Downtown El Paso. The scholarship recipients will be recognized following a business meeting with keynote speaker UTEP Vice President of Student Affairs Catie McCorry-Andalas, Ed.D. The 19 students will receive a scholarship ranging from $5,000 - $1,500 for a total of $41,000. The EPNCDA Scholarship Fund was established in 2015, thanks to the success of the EPNCDA’s annual golf tournament and Skeet & Trap Shoot. The Association has remained dedicated to continued education for students in the El Paso community and has already awarded over $280,000 to 221 students, all local dealership employees or their dependents, or students at Western Tech University pursuing a career in automotive technology.
In a consecutive record year, EPNCDA President Jeff Pester of Group 1 Porsche El Paso is proud to see the local dealerships unite around a purpose greater than business, lifting their community and supporting higher education.
“At a smaller dealership like ours, you know every employee personally and you see firsthand the sacrifices families make to create opportunities for their children,” says Pester. “These scholarships are more than financial support—they’re something our employees count on year after year, and as part of a public company like Group 1, it’s incredibly meaningful to be able to invest back into the people and families who make our success possible.”
These scholarships reflect the local dealers’ shared commitment to education and community. As an evolving industry, the car business relies on dedicated professionals in every department to keep up with new challenges and innovations. El Paso franchise dealers are proud to support these employees and their families as they work to best serve El Paso consumers.
